Description
The long list of great Irish comedians coming to play LOL Comedy is getting notably longer, step forward Andrew Maxwell.
Having appeared on TV programmes such as Live At The Apollo, Celebrity Juice, Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You, this Dubliner is no stranger to our screens. You’ll have seen him on BBC Northern Ireland’s Monumental poking fun at everything local with fellow team captains Jimeoin and Michael Smiley.
Andrew has appeared alongside comedy heavyweights such as John Bishop, Eddie Izzard, Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock, on stages all over the world from Glastonbury to the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival. Quite simply he’s a well-travelled, award winning comedian with jokes, stories and political observations; a man who also has a unique ability to find the funny in the obscure.
BBC 3 recently commissioned a documentary series presented by Maxwell where he looked at conspiracy theories from UFOs to the 9/11 World Trade Centre attacks. If that’s not enough he’s also recorded 3 live DVDs, which some of you might’ve received in your Christmas stockings.
Andrew follows the most famous dame in Northern Ireland, the great Ulster housewife May McFettridge, who performed to a sell-out LOL crowd in July. On Saturday 11th October he’ll take to the now famous St Mary’s Hall stage with a great supporting line up and MC Ryan Hand.
The big names keep on coming and LOL Comedy will soon announce news of a special event that will that will take place in 2015.
Tickets for Andrew Maxwell are £12 and can be purchased in Smyth’s Musique and The Anchor Bar, Newcastle. Drinks start from £2. Doors open at 7:30pm on Saturday 11th October.
